Aligarh: Professor Rakshanda Farooq Fazli from the Department of West Asian and North African Studies, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), presented her research paper at Georgetown University, USA, during the Gulf Studies Symposium 2025.
Professor Fazli’s paper, titled “Strategic Crossroads and Multipolarity: The Impact of US-China Rivalry and Emerging Powers on Gulf Stability and Middle Eastern Conflict Resolution,” delved into the strategic consequences of the intensifying US-China rivalry on the Gulf and broader Middle Eastern geopolitics.
She examined the role of emerging powers such as India, Russia, and Turkey in reshaping diplomatic alignments and challenging established hegemonies.
While underscoring AMU’s expanding international academic outreach and reinforcing the university’s engagement with pressing global issues, she further emphasized the Gulf region’s transformation into a multi-polar strategic space and explored how regional actors are recalibrating their foreign policies amidst growing global uncertainties. It also called for inclusive conflict resolution frameworks in response to shifting power dynamics and regional fragmentation.
