Congress Slams BJP for Politicizing Operation Sindoor, Demands Apology from PM Modi

– Abdul Bari Masoud
New Delhi: Congress on Sunday accused BJP of “shamelessly” giving PM Modi full credit for Operation Sindoor’s success, ignoring the Indian defence forces. The party demanded an apology from PM Modi and BJP President JP Nadda for insulting the armed forces, martyrs, and their families.
At a press conference, All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba showed videos of BJP leaders—Rajya Sabha MP Ram Chander Jangra, MP Deputy CM Jagdish Devda, and Minister Vijay Shah—making disrespectful remarks about the armed forces and martyr families.
She highlighted Jangra’s statement implying that the wives of Pahalgam terror attack victims lacked courage.
Lamba condemned the online abuse against Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and martyr Lt. Vinay Narwal’s widow, Himanshi Narwal. She said BJP supporters trolled them for sharing measured views and calls for harmony.
Jangra had claimed the tourist victims’ wives lacked the warrior spirit and should have fought back to reduce casualties.
Lamba criticized BJP’s troll army for targeting Misri, who was simply stating the government’s view. She also condemned the trolling of Himanshi Narwal, who had appealed for peace.
She expressed shock over the silence of PM Modi and BJP’s top leaders, including Nadda.
Lamba noted that even though FIRs were filed, one on a High Court order and an SIT formed by the Supreme Court, BJP continues defending its leaders like Devda, Shah, and Jangra.
She said these leaders reflect Modi’s mindset, recalling his past remark claiming traders are braver than soldiers. She played a recording of this statement.
Lamba renewed Congress’s demand for an all-party meeting chaired by PM Modi. She also urged for a Parliament session to discuss Operation Sindoor.
She asked why opposition MPs were sent abroad to explain India’s stand, but no Parliament session was held at home.
She cited complaints from people near the LoC in Poonch, J&K, who felt ignored by the Prime Minister.
In contrast, Lamba said, Rahul Gandhi visited J&K twice to show solidarity with terror victims and those affected by Pakistan shelling.
