Youth from Bihar Lynched in Haryana for Wearing Skull Cap

Panipat : Firdaus Alam, also known as Asjad Babu, a youth from Kairi Birpur village in Kochadhaman block of Bihar’s Kishanganj district, was tragically lynched in Haryana’s Panipat district, allegedly for wearing a skull cap, reported the Lokal News.

The incident took place around 7–8 PM on May 24, in Flora Sector 29, when Asjad was en route to meet a friend. A man identified as Shishu Lala reportedly knocked off Asjad’s skull cap. When Asjad bent to retrieve it, the accused attacked him brutally with a stick, inflicting severe head injuries. He was rushed to a hospital in Rohtak, where he succumbed to his injuries the following morning.
Former Kochadhaman MLA Mujahid Alam has been actively involved from the outset, staying in touch with the victim’s family, hospital authorities, and police. Initially, Asjad’s family members were reluctant to take legal action, but after discussions with his father-in-law, Rizwan Sahib from Malda, West Bengal, they agreed to file a formal complaint.
With community support, the accused was apprehended and handed over to the police. A case (No. 288/2025) has been registered at Flora Sector 29 Police Station under Section 103(1), and the police are examining CCTV footage. Mujahid Alam has demanded that the accused be charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and given the death penalty through a fast-track trial.
Masawwir Babu from Baliya Kashibari played a key role in coordinating local support. Following the postmortem, Asjad was buried in the Flora Sector 29 cemetery late that night. Community leaders, including Munir Sahib, have extended full support to the grieving family.
Mujahid Alam has appealed to both the Haryana and Bihar governments to provide compensation and ensure that justice is promptly delivered.
