Baku – The Muslim Council of Elders (MCE) actively participated in the 3rd International Conference on Combating Islamophobia, held on May 26–27 in Baku, Azerbaijan, under the theme “Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas.” The event gathered international scholars, religious figures, and policymakers to confront rising Islamophobia across the globe, reported the See News.
Organized by the Baku International Multiculturalism Centre (BIMC), the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), and the Baku Initiative Group, the conference aimed to explore practical strategies to counter hate crimes, systemic discrimination, and media biases targeting Muslims and Muslim-majority nations. Experts from nearly 40 countries contributed to the wide-ranging discussions.
A key highlight was the launch of a new observatory platform, https://anti-muslimhatred.com, designed to monitor global Islamophobia trends. A comprehensive report was also presented to assist international organizations in policy and advocacy efforts.
Representing the MCE, Dr. Samir Boudinar, Director of the Al Hokama Center for Peace Research and a member of the Council’s Executive Office, addressed the session “Youth Voices for Inclusion: Tackling Prejudice and Misconceptions.” In his talk titled “Creating More Opportunities to Address Islamophobia: The Role of Youth in Institutions,” Dr. Boudinar stressed the importance of empowering youth to dismantle stereotypes and build bridges through interfaith dialogue and inclusive policies.
The conference served as a vital platform to unify global voices against Islamophobia and to promote tolerance and coexistence.
