AMU’s Ahmadi School for the Visually Challenged Observes World Environment Day with Weeklong Awareness Campaign

Aligarh: Ahmadi School for the Visually Challenged, Aligarh Muslim University commemorated World Environment Day (WED) 2025 with a pre-campaign awareness programme held from May 28 to June 2. Aligned with this year’s global theme, “Ending Plastic Pollution Globally,” the initiative engaged students, teaching, and non-teaching staff in a series of impactful activities designed to promote environmental consciousness.

The Principal of the school, Dr Naila Rashid emphasised that every individual must play a responsible role in protecting the environment and fostering sustainability for future generations.

Mrs. Nudrat Jahan, PGT Physics, highlighted the severe impact of plastic pollution and underscored the urgency for global action, and emphasised practical and sustainable steps that individuals can adopt in their daily lives to minimise plastic use.

A pledge ceremony was held on the school premises, where teaching and non-teaching staff, along with students, collectively vowed to avoid single-use plastics and actively contribute to building a cleaner, greener planet.

Throughout the week, students, guided by their teachers, enthusiastically prepared informative charts and creative models depicting the harmful effects of plastic pollution and suggesting viable alternatives, despite their visual challenges.
