Bhopal: A disturbing incident of hate-fueled violence has emerged from the Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh, where Muslim women were physically assaulted and harassed by members of Hindutva groups. The perpetrators also issued open calls for the economic and social boycott of Muslims, sparking widespread condemnation, reported the Madhyamam.
The victims, who were participating in a local market activity, were targeted by a group reportedly affiliated with right-wing outfits. Videos of the incident, which have gone viral on social media, show the women being abused, pushed, and threatened with slurs. The attackers allegedly demanded that Hindus should not do business with Muslims and should avoid purchasing from Muslim vendors altogether.
Activists and civil society organizations have denounced the incident as a blatant attempt to polarize communities and instill fear among minorities. Many have pointed out the silence of law enforcement, highlighting that the assailants carried out the attack in broad daylight without immediate intervention.
Human rights groups have demanded immediate action against the culprits and urged the state government to ensure the safety and dignity of all communities. They also called for stricter enforcement of laws against hate speech and communal violence.
The incident has added to the growing concern over the increasing normalization of anti-Muslim hate crimes in parts of India, especially in states governed by BJP-led governments.
