New Delhi: Renowned chef and restaurateur Asma Khan has been featured in a historic global music initiative that has entered the Guinness World Records for including vocal contributions from women representing every country in the world, reported the Madhyamam.
The song, titled “195”, is the brainchild of The Frequency School and aims to raise awareness on gender equality and mental health, harnessing the therapeutic power of sound frequencies. Asma Khan is among the 195 women—each from a different nation—who lent their voices to the song.
The initiative premiered during the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) held in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, from January 20 to 24. The song was co-produced by Grammy-nominated artist Maejor alongside Martina Fuchs, Kingsley M, Brandon Lee, and Aaron Dawson.
Martina Fuchs, the executive producer of the project, stated, “It has always been my dream to create the first song in history featuring voices from every country on Earth. We wanted to unite 195 ordinary women to stand for gender equality, women’s rights, and mental health support.”
Fuchs added that breaking the world record is just the beginning of a broader mission to promote peace through music.
Asma Khan, born in Kolkata, is the founder of the London-based restaurant Darjeeling Express, known for its all-women kitchen and traditional Indian recipes. She rose to international fame through her appearance on Netflix’s Chef’s Table and has been a vocal advocate for women’s empowerment and food justice.
In 2024, TIME magazine listed her among the 100 most influential people in the world. Khan is also a chef advocate for the UN World Food Programme and holds honorary fellowships at both Queen’s College, Oxford, and King’s College, London, where she completed a PhD in British Constitutional Law.
