Muslim Dairy Owner Lynched, Another Critically Injured in Madhya Pradesh Over Cow Transport Suspicion

Raisen, Madhya Pradesh  — In the name of “cow protection”, two Muslim men were brutally assaulted overnight by alleged members of a Hindutva group in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh. One of the victims, a dairy owner from Bhopal, succumbed to his injuries, while the other remains on a ventilator in critical condition, as per a report by the MuslimSpaces.
The incident took place late on the night of June 5, when around 20 to 25 alleged cow vigilantes intercepted a vehicle transporting cows near Megao village. The vehicle was being driven by two Muslim dairy businessmen, Junaid Qureshi and Arman, who were reportedly bringing six cows from Dhanora to Sironj for their dairy business.
According to eyewitness accounts and family members, the attackers, allegedly affiliated with a Hindu nationalist group, detained the duo and subjected them to a brutal overnight assault in the area between Sanchi and Raisen.
Junaid Qureshi, a resident of the Jinsi area in Bhopal and a well-known dairy operator associated with milk supply in Vidisha, was declared dead late Monday night due to severe internal injuries. His companion, Arman, is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital and is said to be in a critical condition on life support.
Following the incident, Raisen police registered an FIR against 10 to 15 unidentified individuals. So far, three suspects have been taken into custody. However, family members of the victims have demanded strict action and named members of a particular Hindutva organization as responsible for the attack.
Mohammad Maj Qureshi, a relative of the deceased, confirmed that the cattle were purchased legally and the two were targeted purely based on their religious identity and suspicion of cow smuggling, despite running a legitimate dairy business.
This incident has once again raised serious concerns about the safety of minorities and the increasing instances of mob lynching in the name of cow protection across India.
