US Launches Airstrikes on Iran’s Nuclear Sites, Escalates Middle East Conflict

The United States has bombed three key nuclear sites in Iran—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—marking its direct entry into the war escalating the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. The strikes, ordered by US President Donald Trump, were carried out without Congressional approval, raising serious concerns globally, reported the Al Jazeera.
President Trump declared in a national address, “We obliterated Iran’s nuclear enrichment infrastructure. Our mission was to neutralize the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism and ensure the safety of Israel.”
Trump went on to praise Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli military, saying, “We operated as a unified force like never before. I commend the Israeli Defense Forces for their incredible performance in eliminating this threat.”
Iran has confirmed the US airstrikes. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s Telegram account reposted an earlier statement where he warned that American intervention would prove costly. “The damage the US will suffer will exceed what Iran may endure,” Khamenei had stated.
Mahdi Mohammadi, adviser to Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, responded by stating that Iran had already evacuated the Fordow site. “The attack caused no irreversible damage. Two things are certain: knowledge cannot be bombed, and this time, the gambler will lose,” Mohammadi wrote.
President Trump also warned Tehran against retaliation, vowing a “strong response” to any Iranian counterattacks.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep concern over the development, calling the US strikes “a dangerous escalation” and a threat to regional and global peace.
“I am gravely alarmed by the use of force by the United States against Iran today. This is a dangerous escalation in a region already on the edge – and a direct threat to international peace and security,” Guterres said in a social media statement.
As tensions reach a boiling point, global leaders and observers fear the Middle East could spiral further into chaos.
