Hyderabad : AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi strongly condemned the recent US attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling it a blatant violation of international law, the United Nations Charter, the US Constitution, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Speaking at a press conference at Darussalam, Owaisi said, “The United States cannot legally attack another sovereign nation without Congressional approval. This act goes against the very constitution of the US itself.”, reported the Siasat.
He criticized Washington for its double standards, pointing out that Israel possesses around 700 nuclear warheads but faces no scrutiny from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) because it is not a signatory to the NPT. “The US is covering up the genocide in Gaza by diverting attention towards Iran,” he said.
Owaisi also warned of a dangerous nuclear arms race in the Middle East. “In the coming 5 to 10 years, Iran may enrich uranium to 90%, prompting other Arab nations to seek nuclear weapons for deterrence,” he said, adding that even the US Director of National Intelligence has acknowledged Iran doesn’t currently possess nuclear weapons.
Expressing concern for Indian citizens, Owaisi highlighted that over 60 lakh Indians reside in Gulf countries. “A war in the region would endanger their lives and affect Indian investments and remittances,” he cautioned.
He also took a jab at international politics, asking sarcastically if Pakistan nominated former US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize to start a war in the Middle East.
The US recently confirmed airstrikes on three major Iranian nuclear sites – Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan – with B2 stealth bombers dropping a full payload of bombs. Former President Donald Trump called the mission “very successful,” despite no UN authorization or Congressional consent.
