Palestine Solidarity Protest Outside Israeli Embassy: Several Detained, One Hospitalised After Police Brutality

At least 30 activists were detained by the Delhi Police on Monday during a Palestine solidarity protest held outside the Israeli Embassy. The detainees were taken to Mandir Marg and Tughlaqabad Extension police stations, as per a report by the Maktoob Media.
According to protester Habeeba, a young female participant named Srishti was severely assaulted by police forces. “She can’t even breathe. She has been admitted to Metro Hospital, is on oxygen support, and undergoing an X-ray as her leg is immobile,” Habeeba said, describing the intensity of the police action.
The demonstration was organised by Indian People in Solidarity with Palestine (IPSP) and saw the participation of various progressive and student organisations including the Revolutionary Workers’ Party of India (RWPI), Disha Students’ Organization, and Naujawan Bharat Sabha (NBS). Many students and concerned citizens also joined the protest to demand an end to the genocide in Gaza.
During the demonstration, protestors burned the Israeli national flag and an image of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Powerful slogans echoed across the street demanding a free Palestine and calling out the ongoing atrocities in Gaza.
“Delhi Police personnel arrived in large numbers and responded with brutality—beating, harassing, and detaining peaceful protestors. Media personnel were also assaulted, with cameras snatched by the police,” organisers alleged.
Activists have condemned the heavy-handed response by authorities and called for immediate release of all detainees and accountability for police violence.
