Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic explosion at the Sigachi chemical factory in Pashamylaram, Telangana, which claimed the lives of at least 42 workers. In an official statement, the organisation conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and extended prayers for the safe recovery of those still missing and the injured.
Terming the incident a “heartbreaking tragedy,” JIH criticized the serious lapses in industrial safety that led to the deadly explosion. The statement emphasized the urgent need for a transparent and impartial investigation into the disaster, demanding that the findings be made public and those responsible for the negligence be held accountable.
“This incident once again exposes the glaring gaps in industrial safety protocols,” said Prof. Salim Engineer, Vice President of JIH. “Human life must always be prioritised over commercial interests. Worker safety is non-negotiable.”
JIH urged the government to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured, swift efforts to trace the missing, and comprehensive compensation and support for all affected families.
The organisation also called on authorities to treat this catastrophe as a wake-up call and push for thorough reform in industrial safety regulations to prevent such tragedies in the future.
“Our thoughts remain with all those impacted by this devastating incident,” added Prof. Salim.
