DW Journalists Attacked by Israeli Settlers While Reporting in Occupied West Bank

Ramallah: Two journalists working for Germany’s international broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) were attacked by Israeli settlers while covering a protest in the occupied West Bank, the media outlet has confirmed, reported the Middle East Eye.
The incident occurred on Friday in the Palestinian village of Sinjil, located north of Ramallah, where the DW correspondent and cameraperson had gone to report on demonstrations against increasing settler violence targeting Palestinian communities.
According to DW’s official statement, the journalists were pelted with stones and pursued by a group of Israeli settlers. The broadcaster withheld public disclosure of the incident until Saturday.
“We are relieved that they were not physically harmed and managed to reach safety,” said DW Director General Peter Limbourg. “There is no justification for this kind of violence. We strongly urge the Israeli government to ensure the safety and protection of all journalists operating in the West Bank.”
The attack is the latest in a series of escalating hostilities faced by both local and international journalists covering human rights violations and settler aggression in the region. Press freedom advocates have repeatedly raised alarms about the deteriorating conditions for reporters in occupied territories.
