Washington : U.S. President Donald Trump launched a sharp verbal assault on Tesla CEO Elon Musk after the tech billionaire announced the launch of a new political outfit called the “America Party.” Trump, in a post on Truth Social, branded Musk as a “train wreck” who has gone “off the rails” over the past five weeks, reported the Reuters..
“I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails’, essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK,” Trump wrote, expressing dismay over Musk’s attempt to create a third political force in the U.S., historically a two-party system.
Trump claimed that third parties have never succeeded in American politics and only create “complete and total disruption and chaos.” He insisted that while Democrats have descended into “radicalism,” the Republican Party remains a “smooth running machine.”
The former president also took the opportunity to highlight a recent legislative achievement — a bill he described as “One Big Beautiful Bill” — which repeals the Electric Vehicle (EV) mandate. Trump emphasized that the mandate, which would have required a swift nationwide transition to electric cars, was “ridiculous” and has now been eliminated, allowing Americans to choose gasoline-powered vehicles, hybrids, or new technologies freely.
In a surprising revelation, Trump claimed that Musk had previously endorsed him despite knowing his intention to terminate the EV mandate. Trump also raised concerns about Musk’s alleged attempt to influence the appointment of a friend to lead NASA, noting that the candidate was a Democrat with no prior Republican contributions.
“My number one charge is to protect the American public,” Trump stated, criticizing what he viewed as a conflict of interest due to Musk’s deep involvement in the space sector.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk, in a statement on Saturday, slammed both major political parties for what he described as enabling “unchecked government spending and corruption.” He accused them of transforming the United States into a “one-party system in disguise,” declaring that the new “America Party” would work to restore true democracy and individual freedom.
“America is being bankrupted by bipartisan waste and corruption. This is not democracy — it’s a one-party system in disguise,” Musk said.
As political tensions rise ahead of the 2026 elections, Musk’s entry into the political arena and Trump’s aggressive pushback have added a new layer of unpredictability to the U.S. political landscape.
