Chandigarh— The Haryana government has suspended internet and bulk SMS services in Nuh district from 9 pm on Sunday. The step aims to maintain peace during the Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra.
The decision comes after communal violence erupted during the same yatra two years ago.
Officials have also banned the sale of petrol and diesel in open containers at fuel stations. This ban will be in effect from 6 am to 12 noon on Monday.
These steps are part of a wider security plan to prevent unrest.
Additional Chief Secretary T.V.S.N. Prasad and DGP Shatrujeet Kapur have appealed to the public to stay calm. They urged people not to believe in rumours.
ADGP Mamta Singh stated that a special team will monitor social media activity. She warned of strict action against those spreading misinformation or trying to disturb peace.
