CIO Delhi’s Plantation Campaign “Hands in the Soil, Heart with the Nation” Begins at Milli Model School
New Delhi: The Children Islamic Organisation (CIO) launched its plantation campaign from Milli Model School. The inauguration event was graced by Salimullah Khan, Ameer (President) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Delhi; Muhammad Ibrahim, the school manager; Principal Ms. Samina; Delhi Women’s Wing Secretary Ms. Nuzhat Yasmin; Secretary Fatima Tanveer; and Saadia Yasmin.
The campaign began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by students of Milli Model School. CIO member Afaf Zahra introduced the campaign, and children presented slogans enthusiastically. The school manager planted a sapling, formally marking the start of the campaign.
On this occasion, Salimullah Khan, Ameer-e-Halqua of JIH Delhi, said: “Allah has subjected this world to us, so it is our duty to make it liveable and breathable, to beautify it. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ advised us to do so.”
He added that the children’s campaign is being held nationwide from June 25 to July 26, during which CIO children are planting saplings in their surroundings – schools, campuses, and homes. The campaign aims to plant one billion trees.
The Ameer-e-Halqua emphasised: “Trees give us shade, coolness, and oxygen – they benefit us directly. We, too, should be like trees, benefiting others. Planting trees will increase greenery in the country, and we’ll all be able to live a healthier and happier life.”
He further stated: “Plants are essential for our survival. Therefore, it is every child’s responsibility to plant a tree in their apartment complex or their home’s courtyard. This will nurture leadership qualities in children, instil love for the country, inspire them toward good deeds, and encourage them to spread the teachings of Islam, which are meant for the benefit of humanity.”
He concluded: “Jamaat-e-Islami Hind desires goodness for the country and its people. Striving for the welfare of the nation is a fundamental part of Islamic teachings. The work Jamaat-e-Islami does is always in the interest of the nation. For Jamaat-e-Islami, the top priority is success in the Hereafter. The second important role is to love this country, its people, and to guide humanity to the right path, so peace and harmony may prevail.”
CIO Delhi Convener Shazia Bari said: “Allah created humans in the best form and gave them superiority over all other creatures. Therefore, it is the responsibility of humans to strive to make the world better, to serve each other, and act as true vicegerents of Allah by beautifying this world and making it liveable and sustainable. Trees play an essential role in maintaining the environment – they bring rain and help regulate temperatures. Therefore, it is our duty to plant trees.”
