Hubballi: In a heartfelt felicitation ceremony held at New Riyazul Uloom Arabic College in Hubballi, Dr. Airani Mohammed Khan, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka University, was honoured for his academic achievements and dedication to education. The event drew a wide audience of scholars, students, and community members who gathered to celebrate his milestone appointment and hear words of wisdom from leading figures in both academic and religious circles.
Dr. A.M. Khan officially assumed charge as Vice-Chancellor on Monday, July 7, 2025. Prior to this prestigious role, he served as a professor in the Department of Studies and Research in Electronics at Mangalore University. Known for his academic rigour and inclusive approach to learning, Dr. Khan’s elevation to the leadership of one of Karnataka’s oldest universities has been widely appreciated across the state.
The felicitation function was presided over by the college rector, Moulana Ahmed Siraj, who delivered an inspiring address. In his remarks, Moulana Siraj emphasized that true leadership lies in service, not power. “A great leader is one who considers his post not as a position of privilege, but as an opportunity to serve,” he said. He further described knowledge as a divine gift, one that becomes more valuable when shared generously with others.
Praising Dr. Khan’s dedication and humility, Moulana Siraj lauded his contributions to education and held him up as a role model for youth, particularly those pursuing contemporary fields of study. “Dr. Khan’s sincerity and hard work have always set him apart. He is an ideal example for young minds navigating the landscape of modern education,” he remarked.
Taking the stage, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Khan echoed similar sentiments, calling for a harmonious integration of religious and modern knowledge. “Both domains of knowledge—religious and contemporary—must move forward together,” he said. He urged students and academicians alike to explore the abundant opportunities available in today’s diverse fields of learning and emphasized that a balanced education is key to progress in the present age.
Dr. Khan’s comments reflected his broader educational philosophy—one that seeks to bridge traditional learning with modern innovation. His views resonated strongly with the audience, many of whom expressed admiration for his inclusive approach.
The event marked more than just a celebration; it underscored the importance of blending intellectual pursuits with ethical values. As Karnataka University enters a new chapter under Dr. Khan’s stewardship, many in the academic community expressed hope that his leadership would bring a renewed focus on excellence, inclusivity, and relevance in higher education.
The felicitation concluded with prayers for Dr. Khan’s success and for the continued growth of Karnataka University. The evening was both a personal tribute and a collective affirmation of the values Dr. Khan represents in the field of education.
