Malegaon Blast Case: “Terror Has No Religion,” Remarks the Court, But BJP’s Same Old Hindu-Muslim Rhetoric is Regrettable, Says Forum

New Delhi: President of the Hakim Ajmal Khan Forum for Peace and Communal Harmony, Tej Lal Bharti, and General Secretary Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan, in a joint statement, expressed regret over the BJP’s remarks following the court’s verdict in the Malegaon blast case. They said that this is not something to celebrate, but rather a moment to reflect on whether our investigating agencies are functioning correctly. According to them, even in the BJP’s view, there should be a single standard of justice for all citizens of the country.

They added that people affiliated with the BJP are generally viewed as above suspicion, while others are treated as criminals. Tej Lal Bharti further remarked that the BJP often appears at the forefront in one-sided support of the majority community, whereas its role at the national level should be equally inclusive of all communities.

He also pointed out that for the past decade, the credibility of the country’s investigative agencies has been under a cloud of doubt, and their role has become questionable. Therefore, the government should seriously reflect on this matter, said the joint statement.
