Aligarh: As part of the Independence Day celebrations, various departments and schools of Aligarh Muslim University organised a range of activities under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, showcasing students’ creativity, patriotism, and commitment to the values of freedom and unity. From competitions and rallies to creative displays, the events brought together the AMU community in a collective expression of national pride.

The Department of Home Science celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The department was beautifully decorated with vibrant rangoli designs, showcasing the creativity of students.
A slogan writing and poster-making competition was organised, encouraging students to express their thoughts on freedom and patriotism. Participants presented impactful slogans and imaginative artwork, further enriching the festive spirit.
Chairperson Dr Saba Khan appreciated the efforts of Dr Zeba and Dr Naseem us Sahar, along with the students, for successfully organising the celebration, which instilled a deep sense of unity, pride, and love for the nation.

The Department of Sociology organised a Poster Making Competition on the theme “Celebrating Freedom: Unity & Diversity” in the Seminar Hall of the Department as part of the Independence Day celebrations. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments and programmes.
Prof Mohammad Akram, Chairman of the Department, in his opening remarks, emphasised the role of creative platforms in fostering patriotism, unity, and appreciation for India’s cultural diversity. He urged students to blend artistic expression with a vision for a harmonious and progressive nation.
Participants showcased vibrant posters reflecting the ideals of national integration, cultural harmony, pluralism, and the spirit of independence. Ms Madiha Fatima secured first place, while Ms Soni Saraswat was the first runner-up. Winners were felicitated with mementos and certificates, while all participants received certificates of participation, making the event a colourful and spirited prelude to the Independence Day festivities.
The Department of Geography marked the occasion by hosting a thematic exhibition and poster display on “India’s Geographical Diversity and National Unity”. Students prepared maps and infographics highlighting the country’s rich natural and cultural heritage, while faculty members addressed the gathering on how geographical awareness can strengthen national integration. A campus flag march was also organised, with participants waving the tricolour and reaffirming their commitment to the ideals of unity and development.
As part of the Har GharTiranga campaign, STS School, AMU, organised a series of activities to inspire patriotism among students. A Flag Making Competition in the school’s Art Room saw around 30 students from different classes design beautifully crafted national flags. Principal Mr Faisal Nafis visited the Art Room, admired the students’ work, and urged them to respect the values represented by the flag and to participate in unity-promoting activities.
Earlier, a Flag March with about 200 students and teachers carrying the tricolour filled the campus with national pride. Addressing participants, Mr Faisal Nafis lauded their enthusiasm and encouraged them to uphold the ideals symbolised by the flag while contributing positively to the nation’s progress. Both events concluded in an atmosphere of pride, patriotism, and solidarity.
Abdullah School successfully conducted the Har GharTiranga activity as part of the Independence Day celebrations, fostering patriotism and national pride among students and teachers. Supervised by Superintendent Ms Umra Zaheer, the programme featured a vibrant rally within the school premises, where teachers and students proudly carried the national flag. Students also made their own flags, reflecting their understanding of its significance. Teachers took selfies with the Tiranga and uploaded them on the government’s designated platform, as per campaign guidelines. A special group photograph of all teachers with the national flag highlighted the school’s spirited participation.
Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College & Hospital, AMU, marked the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign with a dedicated Selfie Point inaugurated by Principal Prof R.K. Tewari, an E-Poster Making Competition, and patriotic songs in the reception area. The contest winners were Yumna Khan (First), Aisha Nafir (Second), and Mohd Ali and Aafreen Siddique (Third – shared), with consolation prizes to Sukriti Dwivedi, Shruti Agrawal, Somya, and Nimra Hasan. The college was decorated with Tiranga posters, and preparations were made for the August 15 flag hoisting ceremony.
