MUZAFFARNAGAR – A shocking incident of communal violence has emerged from Barla village in Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh, where a young Muslim man named Fardeen was brutally assaulted by a mob on Thursday, reported the Siasat.
According to reports, more than ten men surrounded Fardeen and attacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him with multiple injuries. The victim, who is currently battling for his life in a hospital, alleged that the assault was carried out solely because of his religious identity. “They attacked me with sharp objects and hurled abuses, calling me a katua,” he told local reporters, referring to the derogatory slur often used against Muslims.
Eyewitnesses said the attack was sudden and coordinated, and it was only after passersby intervened that the bleeding youth was taken to a nearby hospital. Doctors have described his condition as critical.
The brutal assault has triggered fear and outrage in the village, with residents demanding urgent police action and stronger measures to curb rising communal violence. However, both Barla police and Muzaffarnagar district police have remained unresponsive to media queries, drawing sharp criticism from locals who accuse authorities of negligence and indifference.
Community leaders and rights activists condemned the incident, calling it a hate-driven crime that reflects a disturbing pattern of mob attacks on minorities in Uttar Pradesh. They urged law enforcement agencies to immediately register a case, identify the attackers, and ensure justice for the victim.
Rights groups have warned that the continued silence and inaction of police only embolden perpetrators and deepen insecurity among vulnerable communities.
As Fardeen fights for his life, his family has appealed for swift justice, better medical support, and accountability from authorities.
