Delhi Winesses Massive Protest Against Israeli Aggression, Calls for Indian Government to Act

New Delhi: A massive protest took place in the capital today in solidarity with the people of Gaza. Demonstrators condemned Israel’s ongoing aggression and warned that any attempt to impose military or political control over Gaza would worsen the humanitarian crisis in the besieged territory.

Hundreds of participants from Delhi and neighboring states gathered, representing diverse religious, social, and political backgrounds. Citizens, students, activists, and leaders from multiple organizations joined hands, sending a clear message that support for Palestine is not limited to the Muslim community but resonates with all who value peace and justice in India.

Speakers denounced Israel’s actions as genocide. They noted that since October 2023, nearly 100,000 Palestinians, including women and children, have been killed. Homes, hospitals, schools, and refugee camps have been destroyed, leaving Gaza on the brink of famine. Protesters highlighted the collapse of healthcare and sanitation systems and warned of catastrophic consequences if the blockade continues.

The gathering reaffirmed demands made in an earlier Joint Statement on Palestine endorsed by leading Muslim bodies and civil society groups. Key demands included an immediate ceasefire, opening of humanitarian corridors, and international condemnation of Israel’s actions. Protesters also urged India to halt military and strategic cooperation with Israel, support the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and endorse the UN call to end Israel’s occupation and establish a sovereign Palestinian state.

Speakers called on India to uphold its historical support for oppressed peoples and back global efforts to end the occupation. They appealed to civil society groups to intensify awareness campaigns, promote boycotts of Israeli products, and organize peaceful solidarity events. A strong message was also sent to Muslim-majority nations to apply maximum pressure on Israel and the United States to stop the bloodshed.

The protest emphasized that silence in the face of mass killings is unacceptable. Participants urged governments, institutions, and individuals to act responsibly in line with moral and constitutional principles.

Prominent figures addressing the gathering included Syed Sadatullah Husaini, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maulana Hakeemuddin Qasmi of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Delhi University professor Aprovanand, senior lawyer Indira Jaising, former MP Mohammad Adeeb, and leaders from several national organizations.
