Rahul Gandhi Meets Scholars at Khanquah Rahmani, Raises Alarm on Missing Voters

Munger: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the historic Khanquah Rahmani on Friday as part of his ongoing “Voter Adhikar Yatra” against the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. He was joined by RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, CPIML general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, VIP chief Mukesh Sahni, and several other leaders.

Rahul spent half an hour at the Khanquah where he met Islamic scholars and community leaders. He described the institution as a vital part of the socio-religious and cultural life of the people. Maulana Ahmad Wali Faisal Rahmani, Sajjada Nashin of the Khanquah, said their discussion focused on the Constitution and voter registration. “We spoke about the Constitution as something that binds all citizens. We also discussed how people must live together in peace without hatred,” he said.

Maulana Rahmani supported Rahul’s stand on the alleged irregularities in the electoral rolls. He noted that the Election Commission has admitted that 65 lakh names are missing. “Rahul ji is asking whether this is true. It needs to be verified. He is saying the correct thing,” Maulana added. He stressed that real politics is about strengthening unity and nation building.

Founded in 1901, Khanquah Rahmani is one of the most influential Muslim organisations in India. Its leaders contributed to the freedom movement and to the upliftment of minorities. Nehru, Rajiv Gandhi, and now Rahul have all visited it.

As the yatra resumed, large crowds lined the highways, waving flags and chanting slogans against SIR and the NDA government. Addressing a rally in Bhagalpur, Rahul accused the government of “stealing votes” and said the movement reflects public anger against unemployment, inflation, and poverty.
