Turkish First Lady Urges Melania Trump to Speak for Gaza’s Children

Ankara: Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan has written an emotional letter to Melania Trump, appealing for the same compassion for Gaza’s children that was shown for Ukrainian victims of war. The letter highlighted the scale of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, describing it as a graveyard for innocent children.

According to Turkish media, Erdogan reminded Melania Trump that during the Ukraine conflict, she strongly advocated for the rights of children. She urged her to extend similar sensitivity to Gaza, where, in the past two years, more than 62,000 civilians, including 18,000 children, have been killed. Erdogan wrote that thousands of Gaza’s children are buried in shrouds marked “unknown child,” a phrase she described as a permanent wound on the human conscience.

Erdogan further appealed to Melania Trump to write directly to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, demanding an end to the ongoing humanitarian crisis. She stressed that the world is experiencing a collective awakening, with growing recognition of Palestine, and that a strong appeal in Gaza’s name would fulfill a historic responsibility.

Recalling her earlier meeting at the White House, Erdogan wrote warmly about Melania Trump’s hospitality, saying the memory remained fresh even after six years. She concluded her message with a call for global solidarity and justice, emphasizing that Gaza’s suffering demands urgent international attention.

Erdogan, known for her compassion and humanitarian outreach, has previously drawn attention to the plight of Rohingya Muslims, where her visits and emotional interactions with victims went viral worldwide.
