New Delhi: The Association for Protection of Civil Rights will host a People’s Tribunal on Assam’s evictions, detentions, and citizenship issues on August 26 at the Constitution Club of India. The event marked to start today at 3 PM, will feature Justice Iqbal Ansari, former Chief Justice of Patna High Court, Justice Anjna Prakash, Former Judge, Patna HC, and former Home Secretary Gopal K Pillai as key speakers.
Prominent figures including Jawahar Sircar, Wajahat Habibullah, Syeda Hameed, Harsh Mander, and Prashant Bhushan will join civil society representatives from Assam. Others who will also speak are Fawaz Shaheen Researcher, APCR, Taison Hussain President, ABMSU and Imtiaz Hussain Working President, AAMSU. Prof Apoorvanand of Delhi University will moderate the program.
The tribunal aims to assess violations of rights and provide a platform for affected communities.
