High Level Delegation from Islamic Countries to Visit India for Truce in Gaza

New Delhi, Nov. 24: In order to solve the ongoing crisis in Gaza, a group comprising seven representatives from Arab and Islamic nations, selected in Riyadh, is scheduled to tour P5 countries, including India, as per media reports.

The team includes the General Secretary of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as the foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Palestine, India, and Indonesia. The date of this visit to India has not been confirmed yet.

The delegation, which is scheduled to meet officials representing five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, is also likely to assert pressure on the Western Countries to reject Israel’s arguments about its actions against Palestinians as self-defence.

The team arrived in Beijing on the first leg of a tour to advocate for an end to hostilities and the opening of humanitarian aid to the beleaguered Palestinians, ministers from Arab and other Muslim countries called for an urgent ceasefire in Gaza on Monday.

“We are here to send a clear signal: that is we must immediately stop the fighting and the killings, we must immediately deliver humanitarian supplies to Gaza,” said Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

In his comments on X, Egyptian foreign minister Sameh Shoukry told his Chinese counterpart: “We look forward to a stronger role on the part of great powers such as China in order to stop the attacks against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Unfortunately, there are major countries that give cover to the current Israeli attacks.”

According to reports, more than 14,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli bombardments so far including more than 6,000 children.
