Aligarh: The Federation of Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Associations (FAAA) has announced a new leadership team with Mr. Afzal Usmani as President. An alumnus of AMU and current head of the Aligarh Alumni Association in Washington DC, Mr. Usmani brings long experience in professional and community service. He said his priority would be to strengthen alumni unity and support AMU students through scholarships, mentorship, and collaborations.
The Federation also named Ms. Naila Saeed from Toronto as Secretary and Mr. Ali Fakhruddin Siddiqui from Texas as Treasurer. Both have been active members of the FAAA Board since 2024. Together, the team aims to expand digital outreach, create standardized scholarship programs, and encourage greater youth participation in alumni activities across North America.
Outgoing leaders were praised for their contributions. Former President Dr. Naushad Khan Ghilzai, Secretary Dr. Shoeb Ahmad, and Treasurer Mr. Kauser Zaidi were credited with taking the Federation to new heights. The recent elections also brought in new office bearers including Dr. Abdul Jabbar Khan as President-elect, Shah Faisal Khan as Secretary-elect, and Shah Shoaib Faizan as Treasurer-elect.
Prof. Sartaj Tabassum, Chairman of AMU Alumni Affairs Committee, welcomed the transition and expressed confidence that the alumni network would achieve greater global impact under the new leadership.
