Lakhimpur Kheri: Police have arrested one person and filed cases against several others after a Palestinian flag was hoisted on a government school building in a village under Bijua block. The incident took place on Sunday when a group of youths climbed onto the roof of an upper primary school in Lakhha village and raised the flag.
According to the complaint lodged by gram panchayat member Sanjay Trivedi, the act was carried out by identified youths along with others whose names are not yet known. He informed the local police after witnessing the flag being put up. Trivedi also alleged that when villagers objected, the accused misbehaved and issued threats.
Police confirmed that three individuals have been named in the case along with four unidentified persons. One of the named accused has been taken into custody while further investigation is underway. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gola visited the school on Monday and spoke to the acting headmaster about the matter.
Authorities stated that a full inquiry has been initiated. The Basic Shiksha Adhikari of Lakhimpur Kheri said that the police registered the complaint under relevant sections and assured that the situation is being monitored. Police presence in the area has been increased to prevent any escalation.
