Washington: A recent poll by Harvard University in collaboration with The Harris Poll and HarrisX has revealed that nearly 60 percent of Generation Z voters in the United States (ages 18–24) support Hamas over Israel in the ongoing Gaza conflict.
The survey shows a sharp generational divide, with younger voters aligning more with Palestinians, while older age groups largely support Israel.
Alongside this, a significant portion of Americans believe Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, and over half say criticism of Israel is based on human rights concerns rather than political motives.
The poll results come at a time when Israel’s military operations have devastated Gaza, with over 63,500 Palestinians—mostly women and children—reported killed since October 7, 2023. Israel is also facing genocide proceedings at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), while the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.
