Jamia Hamdard Retains Top Position in Pharmacy in India in NIRF Rankings 2025

New Delhi: The Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan felicitated higher education institutions that secured top positions in the annual rankings in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 at Bharat Mandapam here Thursday. Jamia Hamdard retained the top rank (No.1) in India in ‘Pharmacy Category’. It was also ranked No. 1 in NIRF 2024. Overall, Jamia Hamdard has been ranked No. 1 for seven years since NIRF ranking commenced in 2016.

The parameters on which institutions are ranked include teaching and learning resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception. Besides No. 1 in Pharmacy Category, Jamia Hamdard secured 47th position in the ‘University Category,’ 74th in the ‘Overall Category’, 40th in the ‘Medical Category’ and 87th position in the ‘Management Category’. Thus, it is among the top 50 institutions under the ‘University Category’ and among 100 institutions under the ‘Overall Category’.

In the NIRF 2025 a total of 14,163 institutions were considered for rankings under various categories.

Tahir Mustafa, Registrar; Director, IQAC, Nodal Officer NIRF and Dean (Academics), Prof. (Dr.) S. Raisuddin; Dy. Director, IQAC and NIRF Ranking Coordinator Prof. (Dr.) M. Shahar Yar, all the members of Jamia Hamdard NIRF Team, faculty members, students and staff members for the spectacular performance of Jamia Hamdard in the national ranking of 2025.

The Vice Chancellor, after receiving the ranking certificate and trophy from the Union Minister of Education, expressed his satisfaction that Jamia Hamdard has retained its top rank in ‘Pharmacy’ in spite of stiff competition and the growing number of institutions participating in NIRF ranking. He urged all the stakeholders, especially faculty members, not to be complacent and to work hard to maintain the top position. Prof. Afshar Alam thanked the Chancellor Hammad Ahmed for his continued support to Jamia Hamdard in all the initiatives aimed at promoting the research ecosystem on the campus.
