Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Extends Relief to Punjab Flood Victims

New Delhi: A delegation led by Maulana Shafi Madani, National Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), visited flood-affected villages in Punjab to assess the damage and provide support to displaced families. The team toured Sangra and Baupur Jadid in Sultanpur Lodhi, Sunder Chuck, Bahadarpur, Kolia Safar in Pathankot District, and Sindhupur in Jalandhar.

In Kolia village, 30 houses were destroyed by the floods. Four members of one family, including three children and their grandmother, lost their lives. The tragedy highlighted the scale of devastation and the urgent need for relief efforts.

JIH leaders met with Sikh community representatives, nodal officers, and local residents to identify pressing needs. Discussions centered on immediate relief such as food, shelter, clean water, and medical care, along with long-term rehabilitation to help families rebuild their homes and livelihoods.

Volunteers from Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and its relief wing, Society for Bright Future, are distributing rations, providing healthcare, and supporting families in temporary shelters. Their efforts aim to ensure no victim is left unattended.

“We are deeply concerned about the hardships faced by the flood victims. Our volunteers will continue to provide food, shelter, healthcare, and rehabilitation until life returns to normal,” said Maulana Shafi Madani. He urged the government to speed up aid delivery, strengthen local infrastructure, and announce sufficient compensation packages for affected families.

Appealing to the public, he encouraged citizens and well-wishers to contribute resources and time to help flood-hit families recover. “This is a time for unity and compassion,” he emphasized.

The floods have left hundreds without homes, and the need for collaborative relief remains critical as the affected communities struggle to rebuild.
