Dubai: The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has opened its first international campus in Dubai International Academic City. The inauguration ceremony was led by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan attended the event and described the development as a significant step in globalising Indian higher education. He highlighted the growing knowledge partnership between India and the UAE, saying the Dubai campus would bring Indian academic excellence to the international stage.
Sheikh Hamdan welcomed IIM Ahmedabad to Dubai, noting that the emirate has become a global hub for talent, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He said the new campus reflects the strong bilateral ties between the two countries and Dubai’s commitment to hosting leading global institutions.
The event was attended by senior UAE officials, including Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications; and Sara bint Yousef Al Amiri, Minister of Education. Indian representatives included Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Ambassador Sunjay Sudhir, and senior faculty members of IIMA.
The Dubai campus will serve as a platform to attract students from across the region and beyond, while also promoting collaboration in research, entrepreneurship, and academic exchange between the two countries.
