Noida: A 37-year-old woman and her 11-year-old son lost their lives after allegedly jumping from their 13th-floor apartment of a residential tower in Greater Noida West. Police said the incident took place on Saturday morning at Ace City, where the family lived.
According to officials, the boy had been suffering from a neurodevelopmental disorder and was under medication. The child’s father, a chartered accountant, told police that he had asked his wife to administer medicine around 9 am. Minutes later, he heard screams and rushed to the balcony, only to find his wife and son lying on the ground.
Emergency services arrived soon after but declared both dead on the spot. The bodies were sent for postmortem.
Investigators recovered a note written by the woman and addressed to her husband. In it, she apologized, saying they did not want to trouble him anymore and that no one was responsible for their deaths. Police said preliminary findings suggest she was deeply anxious about her son’s condition. Handwriting analysis and statements from relatives and neighbors are being examined to rule out other factors.
Residents told police that the child had been under treatment for a long time, did not attend school, and relied heavily on medicines. Neighbors expressed shock at the incident, describing the family as quiet and reserved.
Police said the investigation is ongoing. Additional DCP Shavya Goyal confirmed that early evidence indicates the mother acted under immense stress.
