New Delhi: The Urdu Development Organization has written to Dr. Shams Iqbal, Director of the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), urging the creation of a special scheme to support the salaries of Urdu teachers in Delhi’s private schools.
Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan, National President of the Organization, praised the Council’s efforts under Dr. Iqbal’s leadership, noting that despite limited resources, significant steps have been taken for the promotion of Urdu. He expressed hope that with full authority now vested in the Director and the newly formed committee, the Council will be able to take more effective decisions.
In his letter, Dr. Khan proposed that the scheme initially cover two teachers in select private schools and later be expanded in phases. He stressed that since the Council already funds seminars, workshops, and centres, direct support for teachers’ salaries would be a more sustainable and impactful measure.
Calling the proposal a “milestone,” Dr. Khan said it would not only promote Urdu but also contribute to the intellectual and cultural training of the younger generation and to national development.
