Conveying the Message of the Prophet’s Seerah to Every Individual is Responsibility of Muslim Ummah: Dr. Ashhad Jamal Nadwi

Scholars address the Seeratun Nabi Conference on the theme ‘The Relevance of the Prophet’s Excellent Example in Present Circumstances’.

Lucknow: It is the responsibility of the Muslim Ummah to convey the message of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to every individual, as history bears witness to his exemplary life. It is our duty to acquaint people with the personality and attributes of the Prophet ﷺ and encourage them to study the books of Seerah, so they may illuminate their lives with its guidance.

These views were expressed by Maulana Ashhad Jamal Nadwi, Director of Idara-e-Tahqeeq-o-Tasneef-e-Islami Aligarh, while addressing the Seerat-un-Nabi Conference on the theme “The Relevance of the Prophet’s Excellent Example in Present Circumstances” held at Jama Masjid, Munshi Pulia, here Sunday. The Seerah conference was jointly organised by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Lucknow City and Muslim Welfare Society.

Dr. Ashhad Jamal Nadwi said that just as air is essential for our physical survival, in the same way, the study of the Prophet’s Seerah is essential for our spiritual growth and moral development. He further stated that even before his Prophethood, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was recognised for his pure character and noble attributes. When he declared his Prophethood from Safa hillock, the people testified unanimously that you are truthful and trustworthy, and they bore witness to it. This is a great lesson for us. We must also convey the message of the Prophet ﷺ to our brothers in humanity through the purity of our character. This will surely produce positive effects.

The programme began with a Qur’an lesson delivered by Maulana Muhammad Ali Naeem Razi. He said that Allah Almighty created human beings, and to fulfil their material needs, He opened the treasures of the heavens and the earth; and to fulfil their spiritual needs, He sent the Prophets. Among them, the Final Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was sent as a mercy for the entire universe. The Seerah of the Prophet shows that his mercy was not confined to a particular nation or land, rather he was sent as a mercy for all of creation.

Maulana Kalbe Sibtain Noori, while addressing the gathering, said that love for the Prophet ﷺ is an essential part of every Muslim’s faith. Just as love for the Prophet requires that he be respected, Allah Almighty has commanded in the Qur’an not to raise one’s voice above the voice of the Prophet ﷺ, nor to speak to him in a loud tone. His status and rank in this world are the highest. Therefore, true love demands that he be regarded as the most exalted, and that every matter be judged by what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has established.

Maulana Obaidur Rahman Azhar, in his address, said that prayers, fasting, Hajj, and zakat – are meant for our training, purification, and preparation for a great and lofty purpose. For this very reason, Allah has honoured us with the title of the Best Ummah. The real task of the Prophets was to call towards truth; the purpose of Prophethood was to eradicate oppression and establish peace and security. The environment of brotherhood and love must be established, and it is the duty of the people of faith to become just and fair-minded.

Dr. Amjad Sayeed Falahi, the JIH Organiser of Lucknow City, compered the programme, and Qazi Ahmad Raza, President Muslim Welfare Society extended a vote of thanks.
