Land Owners Call for Relocation of Mir Alam Tank Park Projects

Hyderabad: The Building and Land Owners’ Association of Shivrampally and Rajendranagar has opposed the current alignment of park development under the Mir Alam Tank Projects. At a press conference, the association urged the Telangana government to reconsider the location of Project 3 (Cluster Park) and Project 4 (Dargah Precincts), which are planned on the southwest side near Hassan Nagar and Shivrampally.

Association president Dr. Hidayatullah Khan, secretary Sailesh Jain, and other members, including whistle blower Shahbaz Ahmed Khan, argued that the projects should instead be shifted to the northeast side adjoining Nehru Zoological Park. They stated that this land is largely under government and zoo control, reducing the need for costly acquisition.

The association highlighted that the sanctioned budget of around Rs. 430 crore would remain intact if the projects are shifted. They pointed to the Mir Alam Cable Bridge project, which was aligned over the tank to avoid high land costs in populated areas, as an example of prudent planning.

According to the members, placing the new parks next to the zoo would enhance visitor experience and attract higher footfall. With the zoo already receiving lakhs of visitors each year, the addition of facilities such as boating, musical fountains, and recreation zones would immediately boost tourism and revenue.

The association said this shift would ensure financial responsibility and community benefit. They appealed to the Revanth government to relocate Projects 3 and 4 to the zoo side in the larger public interest.
