Qatar Gains Strong Arab and Islamic Support After Israeli Attack

Doha: Qatar has secured strong backing from Arab and Islamic nations following last week’s Israeli attack on Doha. Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said regional leaders have pledged full support for Qatar’s right to defend its sovereignty and pursue legal measures.

Foreign ministers from the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation gathered in Doha ahead of an emergency summit. The meeting focused on drafting a joint resolution that is expected to include concrete measures against Israel. The strikes killed five Hamas members and one Qatari security officer, narrowly missing negotiators working on a United States ceasefire proposal for Gaza.

Sheikh Mohammed condemned what he called Israel’s genocidal war against Palestinians and said it was time for the international community to abandon double standards. He urged strong and firm action to hold Israel accountable.

OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha called for a UN resolution to end Israel’s “state terrorism” and violations against Palestinians. Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit demanded accountability for war crimes, including the killing of civilians and forced displacement.

Observers expect the emergency summit to produce more than condemnations. Analysts believe the outcome will be a direct message to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, signaling regional unity against Israeli aggression.

The United States, despite its close military partnership with Qatar, reaffirmed its alliance. President Donald Trump praised Qatar as an important partner while acknowledging the pressure it faces in a volatile region.
