Play on Hindu-Muslim Unity Staged in Shahjahanpur on Engineer’s Day

Shahjahanpur: On the occasion of Engineer’s Day, the Talent Maker Natya Kala Samiti staged the play Mere Bhai Mere Dost at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium in Bijlipura. The performance carried a strong message of Hindu-Muslim brotherhood in today’s changing social climate.

Written by noted playwright Daya Prakash Sinha and directed by senior theatre artist Hansraj Vikal, the play highlighted the friendship between Dr. Mirza of Lucknow and his companion Kishan Lal. It showed how their bond of love and unity was threatened by divisive forces attempting to provoke communal violence.

The plot revolved around Yasin, the son of Shaheed Anwar, a close friend of Dr. Mirza. Initially used as a pawn in a conspiracy, Yasin takes shelter in Mirza’s home and pretends to love his daughter to create conflict. However, witnessing harmony and affection between Hindus and Muslims changes his perspective, and he begins to reject the path of hatred.

The event was inaugurated by Mahendra Kumar Pal, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, along with guests Virendra Kumar, Surendra Rathore, Mahesh Singh, Indresh Dhyani, and Aryan Mishra, who lit the ceremonial lamp.

Actors received appreciation for their performances. Patrick Das impressed as Dr. Mirza, while director Hansraj Vikal portrayed Yasin. Ishika Srivastava as Gesu, and Vijay Raj, Amod Kumar, Arvind Kumar, and Zulfikar Ali Khan in supporting roles, were also praised. The program saw the presence of Bhavana Raj Vikal, Sonu Saxena, Sandeep Arya, and Sumit Saxena among others.
