Aligarh: Sir Syed Hall (North) at Aligarh Muslim University organized a programme titled “Tajdeed-e-Riwayat – Revival of Tradition & Knowing Our Founder” to reconnect students with the vision of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, founder of the university. The event was held in the Hall’s Common Room and was led by Senior Hall Amir Suhail.
The programme aimed to highlight the values of discipline, service, and community spirit that shaped Sir Syed’s mission. Prof. Vibha Sharma, Member In-Charge of the Public Relations Office, reminded students that remembering Sir Syed means carrying forward his vision of modern education and social reform in the present century.
Dr. Shariq Aqil, Chief Medical Officer of University Health Service, stressed the role of traditions in student life, noting that the legacy of Sir Syed guides students in responsibility and collective progress. Dr. Rahat Abrar, former Director of Urdu Academy, said every generation of Aligs must reconnect with the mission of enlightenment, and such events provide that link.
Provost Prof. Adam Malik Khan appreciated the initiative, stating that it strengthens the cultural and intellectual life of the Hall and inspires residents to uphold AMU’s ideals. Senior Food Mohd. Aboozar also supported the event.
The evening included discussions on the Hall’s history, interactive sessions with students, and reflections on Sir Syed’s contributions to education and society. The programme ended with a pledge by residents to protect the traditions and ethos of Aligarh Muslim University.
