Cheeta Mehrat Kathat Aid Organization Provides Relief to Punjab Flood Victims

Beawar – The Cheeta Mehrat Kathat Aid Organization has launched a successful campaign to assist those affected by floods in Punjab. Through a crowdfunding initiative using its WhatsApp group, social media, and appeals in mosques across various villages and the city of Beawar, the organization raised a total of ₹1,641,288.11.

In response, a four-member delegation, including the president, secretary, treasurer, and media head, visited the flood-affected areas of Punjab. The team surveyed the districts of Jalandhar, Pathankot, and Kapurthala to assess the ground reality.

They found that many villages remain submerged, with water levels reaching seven to ten feet in some places. Entire houses were swept away by the current.

The delegation observed widespread financial devastation. Families lost their homes, livestock, and crops. In some cases, people were left with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The disaster also resulted in the loss of life for some families in addition to significant property damage.

During their visit, the delegation met with religious leaders, local public representatives, volunteer organizations, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Discussions with figures such as Baba Hakam Singh from the Sant Tara Singh organization, Shahi Imam Punjab Maulana Usman Rehmani Ludhianvi from Ahrar Foundation, and Mohammed Shafi Madani and Irfan Ahmed from Society for Bright Future confirmed that the most urgent need is rehabilitation for those who have lost their homes.

After the survey, the organization’s president announced that the collected funds will be used for the rehabilitation of the displaced, providing them with shelter. The organization extended its gratitude to all donors, emphasizing that their contributions will provide much-needed housing for those left homeless by the floods. They also expressed hope for continued support from donors for future humanitarian efforts.
