Jamia Millia Islamia Wins Dual Honours at India Research Excellence Awards

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has secured dual recognition at the India Research Excellence Citation Awards 2025, organised by Clarivate (Web of Science).

In the individual category, Khalid Raza, Associate Professor in JMI’s Department of Computer Science, was honoured for research excellence in interdisciplinary sciences. His work integrates artificial intelligence, computational biology, drug discovery, and AI-driven biomedical research, advancing genetics, genomics, and precision medicine.

JMI also received the institutional award for research excellence in natural sciences, acknowledging the university’s significant contributions and its role as a hub of innovation nationally and internationally.

Prof Mazhar Asif, Vice-Chancellor, said the dual recognition highlights the outstanding research at JMI and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to nurturing a strong research culture. Prof Md Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, praised the dedication and creativity of faculty members, noting that Raza’s recognition exemplifies excellence across disciplines while the institutional award reflects collective efforts, particularly in natural sciences.

The India Research Excellence Citation Awards, presented biennially since 2004, celebrate pioneering contributions to research in India. Recipients are selected by an expert panel at the Institute for Scientific Information through bibliometric analysis and qualitative review using data from the Web of Science Core Collection and InCites Benchmarking and Analytics. The 2025 awards reviewed publications from 2019 to 2024 and marked the 10th anniversary of the awards, honouring nine individuals and eleven institutions nationwide.

With these awards, JMI strengthens its position among India’s leading research universities, committed to advancing discovery, innovation, and global collaboration.
