Hindu Brothers Donate Land for Muslim Cemetery in Azamgarh

Azamgarh: In a remarkable display of communal harmony, five Hindu brothers from Ramnagar in Azamgarh’s Sagri constituency have donated their valuable land to establish a cemetery for the local Muslim community of Hajipur village.

The brothers—Rakesh Singh, Akhilesh Singh, Sudhakar Singh, Dinesh Singh, and Omkar Singh—collectively donated land worth approximately 30 lakh rupees. The gesture comes after Muslims in Hajipur lacked a permanent burial site and had to travel to the nearby village of Rasulpur for burials, often seeking permission from locals.

Rakesh Singh explained that their family has a tradition of participating in social welfare projects. The brothers decided to donate the land to honor their late father and uncle’s wish of providing the Muslim community with a dedicated cemetery. They refused any payment for the land, emphasizing that the decision was motivated purely by humanity and brotherhood.

The donated site has been secured with fencing, iron gates, and a lock. A plaque bearing the names of the five brothers has been installed at the entrance as a testament to their contribution. Local Muslims expressed deep gratitude, highlighting the donation as a rare act of kindness in a state often marked by communal tensions.

The donation contrasts sharply with recent reports from Uttar Pradesh, where bulldozers have been used to demolish Muslim properties. Hajipur’s Muslims said they will never forget the brothers’ gesture and called it a relief and a sign of hope for peaceful coexistence.
