VHP Warns Government Over AIMPLB Protest on Waqf Law

New Delhi: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has urged the central government to remain alert after the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) announced a nationwide agitation against the Waqf Act. The VHP said that the protest plan must be monitored closely to prevent unrest and to ensure law and order.

The AIMPLB recently declared its decision to launch a campaign opposing what it describes as unfair provisions in the Waqf law. The organisation argues that the legislation gives excessive powers to the Waqf Board and undermines the rights of the Muslim community in managing its properties. It has announced public meetings and outreach programs to raise awareness and mobilize support.

In response, the VHP alleged that the campaign could disturb peace and create division. The group has asked the government to prepare in advance and ensure that any protest remains within legal and peaceful boundaries. The statement underlined that authorities should not allow gatherings that risk public order.

The debate over the Waqf law has widened in recent months, with several Muslim organisations calling for amendments to protect community rights. The AIMPLB has positioned itself at the forefront of this movement, claiming that the law in its present form centralises control and limits transparency.

Officials in New Delhi are assessing the situation and are expected to issue directives to state administrations on crowd management and security measures. Both the government and community leaders are under pressure to prevent confrontation while ensuring democratic space for expression.
