Nagpur: Naimunnisa Noor Muhammad Quraishi, a researcher in the Department of Arabic Studies at Barkatullah University, Bhopal, has been awarded a PhD for her thesis titled An Analytical Study of Prof Muhammad Hassan Khan in Arabic and Islamic Literature. A resident of Qassabpura, Hansapuri, Quraishi’s work sheds light on the scholarly contributions and intellectual continuity of Arabic studies in India, with a focus on Central India.
Her research highlights the enduring role of Arabic and Islamic literature in shaping academic thought and cultural understanding. By examining the works of Prof Muhammad Hassan Khan, she brought attention to an important figure in the field, underlining the relevance of Arabic scholarship in contemporary academic discourse.
Dr Quraishi expressed her gratitude to her supervisor, Dr Ayesha Raees Kamal, along with Dean Dr Tahira Waheed Abbasi, and Dr Afroz Jabeen, former Head of Arabic at Vasantrao Naik Government Institute, Nagpur, for their guidance. She also acknowledged the encouragement of her academic peers and family, especially her elder sister Dr Akhtarunnisa Quraishi and elder brother Ali Mohammad Quraishi.
The award of the PhD underscores Barkatullah University’s role in promoting advanced research in classical and modern Arabic literature. It also reflects the growing academic interest in Arabic studies across India. For Dr Quraishi, the recognition marks a milestone in her scholarly journey and adds to the rich tradition of Arabic research in the region.
