New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh has launched a fierce attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as it marks its centenary year, accusing the organisation of betraying India’s independence movement and excluding Dalits, Adivasis, backward castes, and women from its leadership.
In a video statement, Singh alleged that the RSS, since its founding in 1925, collaborated with British authorities instead of resisting them. He claimed that the organisation opposed the Quit India Movement, spied on Indian revolutionaries, and encouraged Indians to join the British Army during World War II. “This is the dark truth of the RSS’s history,” he said.
The AAP leader further charged the RSS with refusing to hoist the national flag at its Nagpur headquarters for more than five decades. He questioned the absence of inclusivity in its leadership structure, asking why no Dalit, tribal, backward caste person, or woman has ever been chosen as its head. According to Singh, this reveals the organisation’s commitment to caste hierarchy and manuwadi ideology rather than equality.
He also accused the RSS of opposing the Constitution and the reservation system designed to uplift marginalised groups, stating that it has consistently worked against the vision of Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Criticising the government’s release of a commemorative postage stamp and coin for the RSS centenary, Singh said such acts glorify the organisation while concealing its historical role against the freedom struggle. He warned that mainstreaming the RSS through state symbols and education is an attempt to distort history.
Concluding, Singh described the RSS as narrow and regressive, urging citizens to remain vigilant about its influence on Indian society.
