UAE Geneticist Dr Mariam Matar Says Her Biological Age Is 28 at 50

Dubai: Dr Mariam Matar, one of the Arab world’s leading geneticists, revealed that her biological age is 28 despite being 50 years old. She attributed her youthful health to regenerative medicine and evidence-based scientific practices. The announcement was made during the 6th Women in Technology Forum in Dubai, where she spoke on “Mental Longevity for Women and Supporting Technologies.”

Dr Matar said her organs function like those of a 16-year-old, crediting her daily regimen to years of disciplined application of longevity science. Her interest in regenerative medicine began in 2011 while studying in Japan, where she was inspired by professors who maintained remarkable physical and mental vitality well into old age.

A pioneer in genetics research, Dr Matar founded the Emirates Genetic Diseases Association (EGDA) and has been instrumental in shaping UAE policies on premarital screening, newborn testing, and preventive genetic health. Her work has led to five national legislations in these areas. She has also founded 14 nonprofit organizations and mentored thousands of volunteers and researchers.

Dr Matar highlighted that women possess natural biological advantages due to their two X chromosomes, giving them higher longevity and stronger cognitive resilience. She added that women, on average, live five years longer than men.

Recognized as the most powerful scientist in the UAE since 2014 and among the top 20 Arab scientists by the British Scientific Community in 2016, Dr Matar continues to advocate the integration of genetics and regenerative science into public health. Her message is clear: longevity is no longer a mystery, it is a science of discipline, data, and discovery.
