New Delhi: Maulana Asghar Ali Imam Mehdi Salafi, Amir of the Markazi Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith Hind, said spreading the Qur’an’s message of peace and humanity is the greatest need of today. Speaking at the inaugural session of the 21st All-India Qur’an Memorisation, Recitation and Interpretation Competition in New Delhi, he said where the Qur’an is followed, peace, justice, and equality prevail.
He urged Muslims to not only recite the Qur’an but also understand and practice its teachings in daily life. He reminded the audience that neglecting its meaning and application weakens faith. Protecting madrasas, he said, is essential to preserve Qur’anic education and values.
The competition, held at Jama Masjid Ahl-e-Hadith Complex in Okhla, brought together over 700 students from more than 100 Islamic institutions across India. Convener Dr. Mohammad Shaith Idrees Taimi said the annual event is part of the Jamiat’s commitment to education and social reform.
General Secretary Maulana Mohammad Haroon Sanabli said the high turnout shows the community’s growing interest in Qur’anic learning. “Our goal is to inspire students to perfect their recitation and understand the divine message,” he said.
Dr. Abdul Rahman Abdul Jabbar Piroi, founder of Dar al-Da’wah, Delhi, praised the Jamiat’s efforts and called for spreading the Qur’an’s message of peace to every home. Prominent scholars and guests congratulated the organisers for their dedication to promoting Qur’anic scholarship.
The competition includes six categories, with examiners from leading seminaries ensuring discipline and accuracy. The closing ceremony and award distribution will take place on Sunday evening.
