Kolkata, Jan. 22: West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) recently revised the timetable for Class 10th 2024 exam, sparking concerns and criticism. The updated schedule, published on the board’s website, wbbse.wb.gov.in on January 18 includes a 2 hours and 15 minutes duration for the Music Vocal and Instrumental Theory exam.
The official notification indicates a modification in the exam timings for Class 10 board exam 2024, now scheduled from 9:45 AM to 1 PM.
In a statement, SIO West Bengal President Mamun expressed concern over the sudden alteration of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Examination timetable by the Education Board. The decision to shift the exam period from 9:45 am to 1 pm has faced criticism from the Student Islamic Organization (SIO), which is calling for a reversal of the revised schedule. The organization argues that this change affects candidates, especially those facing extensive travel to reach exam centers, leading to significant challenges.
Mamun highlighted the difficulties faced by secondary and higher secondary examinees, particularly those covering distances exceeding 10 kms to reach their examination centers. He emphasized the significant stress these exams impose on students’ lives, affecting their emotional well-being. He urged the necessity of prior consultation with students and teachers before making substantial changes to the examination schedule. He insisted on maintaining the previous examination schedule, starting at 11:45 am, as it was before the recent alteration.
