Dr Anis Ansari of AMU Gets Patent on His Innovation in Water Conservation

New Delhi, Feb. 8: The Patent Office, Government of India, has patented an innovative work of Dr. Anis Ahmad Ansari, Mechanical Engineering Section, University Polytechnic, Aligarh Muslim University. Dr. Ansari had applied for a patent for his innovation, “A Controlled Water Dispenser System for Water Conservation.”

Dr Ansari told Radiance, “When water is filled into a pot by a manual water dispenser, generally, the tap is closed well before the water touches the top of the pot. To avoid overflow, we constantly observe the level of water with due care during the whole process which causes the wastage of time. If the water level reaches very close to the top position, water spills out usually during handling of the pot and causes inconvenience to the user in addition to the wastage of water. Hence, in every situation, wastage of water and/or time takes place when filling a pot by a manual water dispenser.

“The present invention has been made to eliminate the wastage of water and reduce the duration of time for filling a pot. It works on the concept of storing a certain amount of water in a separate chamber. This is a novel spill-proof dispenser that discharges the precise amount of water very quickly in a single push.”

On how his innovation will help people, Dr Ansari said, “The unique control mechanism and user-friendly features in this device are the key factors that differentiate it from the existing dispensers available in market. It can be highly useful for water conservation in office, industry, public places, etc. The Patent Office, Government of India has granted me this patent for twenty years on 17th January 2024.”
