Protest against Haldwani violence and for Mufti Salman Azhari’s release

– Raheem Khan

Baran, Rajasthan: The All Muslim Community Baran organized a protest against the Haldwani violence and for the release of Mufti Salman Azhari at Anjuman Chowk here on Friday.

The speakers condemned the violence in Haldwani, in which two Muslims were killed and several others rendered injured. They also called for the release of Mufti Salman Azhari, a Muslim scholar who was arrested in Mumbai on charges of hate speech.

The speakers also alleged that the BJP government was targeting Muslims and that the Haldwani violence was part of a larger pattern of discrimination against the community.

They demanded that the government take steps to protect Muslims and ensure that justice is served in the Haldwani case.

Program Convener Samir Khan said the program started with the recitation of the Quran by Hafiz Razi Ahmed. This was followed by a revolutionary song by Mohammad Ashraf Mansuri. Insaf Raza said that the BJP government, intoxicated by the power of intoxication, had arrested our Ulama with full propaganda and was sending them on remand without any concrete evidence.

Hafiz Arman said this fascist government is constantly harassing Ulama. Mufti Salman Azhari has been put in jail for no reason and is being tortured. “We respect democracy and hope that the judiciary will soon release our Ulama,” he said.

Waseem Mansuri, while shedding light on the growing atrocities, said the way the mosque and the mazar were targeted at the behest of the Haldwani DM, despite the stay on the land, and Muslims were killed even in the curfew situation. He demanded that the families of the Muslims killed there be given compensation and that whoever was guilty of this conspiracy be punished severely. He said that whoever targets our mosques, madrassas and khanqahs, we will stand united against them within the ambit of the constitution.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Muslim leaders submitted a memorandum to SDM in Sangod in Kota district on Friday, demanding the release of Mufti Salman Azhari and justice for victims of the Haldwani violence.

The delegation also demanded that the government provide compensation to the families of the victims and ensure that such incidents do not happen again.

The SDM assured the delegation that he would forward their demands to the government.
