Mumbai, March 22: On Thursday, at the Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh, the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO), South Maharashtra, unveiled a comprehensive Students Manifesto aimed at addressing critical issues in education, minority rights, and societal well-being. Dr. Roshan Mohiddin, National Secretary of SIO, alongside Atesam Hami Khan, State President, and Musaddiq Ul Moid, Zonal Secretary, shared the manifesto’s details with the media.
The manifesto outlines key demands, including equitable reservation, socio-economic upliftment of marginalized districts, enactment of the Rohit Act for student safety, reinstatement and enhancement of scholarships for minorities, and the implementation of anti-discrimination laws. Additionally, it calls for stringent personal data protection laws, environmental sustainability funds, and health and mental wellness centers for youth nationwide.
Dr. Mohiddin expressed concerns over India’s education landscape, citing a literacy rate below the world average and insufficient budget allocation for education and healthcare. He highlighted the alarming dropout rates among Muslim students and the erosion of academic freedom. Furthermore, he addressed the mental health crisis and the rise in hate crimes, emphasizing the need for immediate action to protect lives and combat discrimination.
The manifesto urges political parties to prioritize the needs of students and youth, emphasizing the demand for accessible education, employment opportunities, and a peaceful environment. SIO South Maharashtra’s initiative underscores the importance of tangible election manifestos focused on securing the future of the nation.
